This brown pigskin leather coin purse has a strap which unsnaps, revealing a flap with a second flap, and another snap. The purse folds into a neat package, 3 3/8" long and 2 1/8" wide. The outer strap is 1 1/8" wide, and 4" long. When open a metal frame is revealed, and the back inside leather is marked 5-1-10-25. The metal frame holds your pocket change. Back when this purse was used, dimes, and quarters were silver. The tarnish on this silver would rub off inside a gentleman's trouser
pocket, and that is why coin purses were used. This is not a generic coin purse, each snap is stamped with the Boy Scout, Fleur de Lis emblem. This is an official Boy Scout item, old and rare. In excellent condition with both snaps working well, and the purse showing just a little wear. Certainly dating prior to my Boy Scout days, I think is goes back to the 1920-40 era, maybe earlier.
