This is a large 17" wide, 18" high(20 1/2" including candle holder), gold and crystal blown glass mirror made of Murano glass. Murano is an island in Venice, Italy, famous for hundreds of years for its fine, hand blown, Venetian glass. This mirror is probably from the 1950's. It has 4 gold glass rosettes, and a gold glass fan at the top, all surrounded by fluted paneling and rigaree. The large mirror is etched, showing an overflowing basket of flowers. At the bottom is a glass compartment featuring holes to hold 2 candles. These pieces, all glass, are very fragile. This one has one broken panel, visible in the photos, but all the glass is present and may be repaired with a little glue. The mirror is backed with a solid wooden board, now split in half, with a heavy metal hanger at the top. This board has a label from Harris, an upscale department store in Southern California, from 1908 until the 1980's. This mirror is considerably larger than most you will find.
