This piece is just too cool. The cast iron base has three ball and claw feet, and shell decorations. The base maintains its white paint, with the high spots not painted. The top is made of 1/8" thick gold glitter infused lucite. It stands 3 1/2" tall, and it is 5 1/2" wide. It is molded with a flat bottom, and raised, ruffled sides. The piece has no damage or problems after 60 years of use. We pulled these right out of a bathroom during an estate sale. Designed as a soap dish, it could be used as such, or re-purposed to hold jewelry, business cards, candy, or whatever. Dating from the 1950's, the base is marked "BWM", "NY" and "107". Its mate, the toothbrush holder, is listed, and sold as item 1796. The pair would fit right in to your glamorous, retro, over the top, bath.
