This is a very rare, large ornate high back Victorian wicker settee. The flowing curves of this rare settee exemplify the exotic, the romantic and the fanciful. It incorporates excellent design and harmonious balance. The serpentine rolled crest flows into the arms with elaborate designs throughout. The fine craftsmanship and wonderful designs abound in this very special antique Victorian wicker settee. It retains the Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company label (painted over). The back has elaborate bead-work and scalloped reed-work along with cascading curlicues. The shapely set in cane seat mirrors the shapely wood seat frame. Bead-work and fancy reed-work along with curlicues decorate the arms. The front skirting includes a shapely roll and the front legs are decorated with loop designs ending in cane wrapped splayed legs and brass caps. The settee has been painted in a cream color.
