This is a very rare and ornate antique Victorian wicker rocker. It retains the original natural finish. This special rocker has many wonderful decorative elements.
The serpentine rolled crest features a rare ram's horn design along with a panel of curlicues. The decorative hand caned back panel is flanked by fancy reedwork. There are elaborate weave patterns throughout this heavy and substantial piece. Curlicues frame the back panel. The side posts are decorated with birdcage designs.
Large cornucopia shaped serpentine rolled arms end in rosettes framed with fine braiding. The rocker has a new cane seat.
The sides of the rocker have been decorated with elaborate cascading curlicues and large wood turned balls along with long and intricate woven scalloped skirting.
The front skirting is decorated with a stunning half moon panel of beaded cross-hatching framed by braiding and applied curlicues and beadwork along with a long and intricate woven scalloped skirting.
This very special antique wicker rocker retains the original Heywood Brothers and Company paper label. Circa early 1890's.
This elaborate and ornate rocker is a fine example of American craftsmanship and creativity which is evident throughout this beautiful piece.
