Absolutely breathtaking eleven-piece signed Louis Majorelle "Modele Chicoree" walnut dining suite circa 1905. Made in France by Louis Majorelle (1859-1926), this is a rare suite, with a stunning fruitwood server/vitrine with intricate fruitwood and abalone marquetry. Original bronze hardware. The doors have hydrangea marquetry decoration, flanked by open shelves with carved chicory supports rising to the serving shelf inset with terrazzo marble, rounded marquetry backdrop with carved central chicory flower. The dessert is equally lovely, with inset marble top and exquisite details to match and compliment server. The table has wonderfully carved legs and skirted leaves, accommodating the two armchairs and six side chairs. The exact sideboard of this magnificent suite is prominently pictured in Louis Majorelle Master of Art Nouveau Design by Alastair Duncan.
