Beautiful rectangular Pietre Dura Table, with intricate elaborate inlay of stylized floral and foliate details in a black marble top resting on a stone carved winged griffin base.
Pietre Dura uses real mineral and stones to produce intricate designs and ornamentation. Pietre Dura means "hard stone" in Italian, and is a technique in which thin polished slices of hard or semi-precious stone, typically chalcedony, lapis lazuli and agate are cut and arranged to form a mosaic image. It was developed by 16 century artisans in Florence, Italy.
