Grand scale Pottier & Stymus carved antique cabinet with bronze plaques. Executed in rosewood, walnut and burled walnut, this beautiful piece has gilt incised details and mounted bronze plaques on each cabinet door, the center one with Greek lettering below. Lovely carved female head below carved cresting piece. Cabinet has top pull-out top drawer, a rosa la Vanta marble top, and cabinet doors that open very wide to accommodate media equipment.
A wonderful example of the American Renaissance Revival Parlor Cabinet, c. 1870, Pottier & Stymus, New York, The mounted bronze plaques on cabinet doors by P.E. Guerin. Pierre E. Guerin (1843-1911) established his New York foundry in 1864 providing mounts for renowned cabinet-makers such as Leon Marcotte and Pottier & Stymus.
The doors of this spectacular cabinet are able to open wide, revealing an adjustable shelf. This piece would be perfect to use as a high-style entertainment center or a flatscreen television cabinet.
