The Gruen Watch Company was formerly one of the largest watch manufacturers in the United States. It was in business from about 1894 to 1958 and was based in Cincinnati, Ohio. This nice manual wind vintage gents watch is circa 1940 to 1950. It is in good vintage condition as the pictures depict. From my personal collection. I do not have a thorough knowledge of watches I have always collected gents watches for the joy of wearing them now and then. They make for a classy dress watch and nice conversation piece. This particular Gruen piece has a curved base and is very comfortable to wear. Before wearing I wind until I feel a little firmness. I give it a shake or bump to get the 2nd hand moving. (just like Dad used to do) After that it keeps very accurate time, I always give it a another smaller wind in about 6 or 7 hours and it keeps time throughout the day and eve.
The case is 12 kt. gold fill, the back is stamped Gruen Guildite base metal. It has the original Speidel expandable band. 17 jewel movement. Manual wind. The face and crystal are in good vintage condition. Please look at pictures closely. will fit small to large gents wrist.
