I have a fascination for fossilized ammonite! It is hard to believe that these are millions of years old! This feature a large ammonite set into a sterling silver pendant. Accenting the large fossil is a blue larimar stone. I like how the sky blue plays off the natural browns of the ammonite. Larimar always reminds me of a warm summer sky. These are both set into clean lined bezels. Two silver dots connected the pieces. I would consider this a unisex piece than can be worn by a man or a woman. Love it!

I lightly polish my vintage silver as some people like the aged patina. If you want me to polish it before shipping, just let me know! I am not an expert on vintage jewelry, but I do buy and sell what I love! Since these items are vintage, they may have a wonderful aged patina and are not meant or expected to look brand new. I treasure their imperfections as part of their charm and history.
History: Ammonites have been extinct since the time of the dinosaurs. The ammonite mollusc was a shelled cephalopod, mollusk animal in a coiled, spiral shape. They inhabited the world's oceans. They are now found in marine rocks as fossils.
The word ammonite is derived from Ammon, an Egyptian god who was depicted wearing ram's horns. This was because the fossilized shell is in the shape of a ram's horn.
Metaphysical: Some believe that it is powerful earth healing fossil whose spiral shape symbolizes evolution and change. Can be placed in the home to attract health, prosperity and success. Draws off all negative energies. Filters through the spirals and then released as a positive energy. It helps to increase stamina and vitality. Use to help blood pressure, problems with the ears, lungs, degenerative disorders and depression.
History: The Larimar stone, which is also known as the dolphin stone and atlantis stone is only found on the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean Sea. Larimar was discovered in 1916 by a Spanish priest but no mining was done. In 1974 the American Peace Corps Volunteers rediscovered the stone on the beaches of Barahona. Geologists determined that larimar is a rare form of blue pectolite. The quantity at the mine is unknown, which makes the future supply uncertain.
Metaphysical: Some believe that larimar has healing powers which include:
It awakens feminine power and soothes the emotions
It balances water and fire energy as it was created by volcanic activity
Throat chakra stone, assists in expression of emotions
Teaches love, nurturing, respect respect, love
Cleanses emotional blocks, releases attachments
Great for new and pregnant mothers for relief of depression and stress
