If you are looking for a lovely quality powder compact to use or to collect, this is a wonderful example! Made in England by “Enissa” or “Enessa”. We think it dates to the 1930's-50's period. The outside has engine turned patterning on the bottom in a geometric form while the top has both engine turned and floral and border decorations. It measures 3 3/8" from clasp tongue to hinge, 3 1/4" in diameter and 7/16" tall. The compact has been used, but is in very good condition and could be used again for some of the many powdered mineral cosmetics so popular today. The hinged lid for the powder compartment has a nicely working clasp on the right hand side which, when pushed, pops up the lid exposing the removable sifter on top of the compartment to hold your loose powder. The mirror is all original and undamaged as well as being a good large size which is useful for applying cosmetics. All in all this is a great example of a useful vanity collectible which is in good condition for its age with only minor age-appropriate wear. I should mention that there is label residue showing in the photograph of the hinged lid with the maker's name on it, but I will remove that before shipping to the buyer.
