This little cut steel beaded evening purse is fresh from a Virginia estate. It features a pretty frame which has floral designs along the top and sides and a scrollwork pattern along the front and back faces of it. The bag is some kind of knit material which has been heavily beaded in a panel across the top are and then in tapering stripes below that to the bottom of the bag. It is attached to the frame, but in need of some minor stitching to make it perfect. The liner is essentially gone as you can see in our photo of the opened frame. It appears to have had a pink and gold thread border attached to the frame and a pale grey or grey green silk liner bag. This could be replaced by a competent seamstress. The piece measures 6 1/4" from twist-finial clasp to bottom and 6" across the bottom of the purse. There is a 12" long elongated oval chain attached to the bag. The frame measures 4" wide by 2" high. This is a very pretty piece which catches the light nicely with its cut steel glittery tiny beadwork. Still usable after about 100 years or more with just a little sewing work. Lovely.
