This offering is for a large heart-shaped die cut valentine with a fold out support/easel. It measures 10" wide by 10 ¼" tall! The heart shaped cut out and the easel are made of very heavy card with deeply embossed blue poppies on the front of the heart as well as bronze matte finished background sections which set off the flowers. The center of the card has a very pretty die cut out of two young ladies in fancy dress who are situated behind a foreground arrangement of roses and forget-me-nots. Behind them is an attached sort of tan heavy tissue section with serrated edges, a heart "window" with shutters which reveals a red heart lettered with the words "With Loving Regards". This portion of the card was originally folded over at the top and has been cut open with a letter opener in order to reveal the red lettered heart beneath. The easel at the back is in excellent working condition and supports the heart perfectly. There are a few spots on the front of the heart on either side of the girls and at about 11 o'clock on one of the poppies at the top of the card, but this is such a fabulous piece, that I really don't think it makes any difference to its appeal. It might be removable with an art gum eraser. Please note the heavy embossing on the back of the piece (see photo). This is a really rare gem of a valentine. Circa 1910-20.
