Antique Agate Pin

This late Victorian period brooch is set on a stamped gold-toned metal plaque featuring stylized leaf forms and beaded scrolls. It has an oval banded agate bezel set in the center of the stamping and a pin with safety clasp. The piece measures 1 3/4" wide by 1 1/4" high and 3/8" back-to-front including the pin. It dates circa 1880-1900 when costume jewelry became available to a new market The pin is in good overall condition with this caveat: the agate has a small curved crack which can be seen in the final photo along the bottom edge of the oval to the right. It is still eminently wearable as the flaw in the stone is only visible upon very close examination. We have considered this in our pricing. There is no maker's mark on the piece so we don't know where it was made. We will ship to you in a jewelry gift box for storage or giving as you wish.
