This gorgeous vintage hat is so old Hollywood-glamour that we can barely stand to see it go.
Looking like it came straight out of a 1940s movie, this beauty remains in spectacular condition.
As you can see, the exterior of the hat is made from glorious burgundy-black satin. It is comprised by a pile of pleats.
This look is achieved by the satin being sewn in a tall cone-shape which then slouches down; then it is held in place by a pretty little hat pin with a glass-pearl for decoration.
This gives the hat a fabulously unique yet elegant appeal. The interior of the cap is lined with black knit cotton, while the interior band is lined with a thin ribbon of black grosgrain.
The retailer's original tag can be seen on attached to the grosgrain; it reads "Best & Co., Fifth Ave, New York". Best & Co. was founded in 1879 as a children's clothing store.
It was founded as the Lilliputian Bazaar (a clever reference to the "little people" of Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels) but later expanded to women's clothing and accessories.
Despite some very minor wear commensurate with its age, this spectacular hat remains in excellent vintage condition.
