Here is a lovely antique brooch with a hand-painted porcelain centerpiece and a lustrous 12 karat gold-filled frame.
As you can see, the wide porcelain panel features the delicately hand-painted scene of a little Dutch-girl while ships sail on calm seas in the background.
The little girl wears a traditional Dutch dress and Dutch cap. Like most Dutch caps, this one is bright white and turns up at the sides.
While traditional Dutch garb varies from region to region, the white bonnet is typically a mainstay.
The porcelain features an extraordinary amount of color.
You can see that the Dutch girl's dress is rendered in shades of red, white, yellow and blue while the seascape in the background features organic sky and ocean-blue hues.
Even the rose in the Dutch girl's hand is rendered in remarkable detail with soft greens and pinks.
A wide bezel-frame surrounds the porcelain centerpiece and features a 12 karat yellow gold-plated finish.
It has been professionally tested to ensure the purity of the gold.
You can see the exposed back-side of the porcelain on the reverse of the brooch while an old-style "C" brooch clasp will make it simple to wear and display the piece.
You will notice that the gold-filled frame shows some expected wear and darkening.
Despite this minor condition issue and a few very light marks on the reverse of the porcelain, this exquisite brooch remains in very good antique condition overall.
