This elegant Levi and Salaman dresser set is characterized by dazzling cut-glass and exquisite sterling silver.
It is important to note that these pieces are NOT pressed, but have been masterfully hand-cut.
As you can see, the set consists of five pieces which include two small jars, a rectangular container and two taller, more slender bottles.
Each glass bottle is pervaded by hand-cut decoration with a classic criss-cross pattern.
Every individual facet catches the light and makes the glass gleam brilliantly.
The short, wide jar features the added ornamentation of an 8-point star cut into the base.
All five pieces include a lid made of sterling silver. These have all been professionally tested.
You will notice that each lid features a stamped decoration which depicts a scene of five little cherubs.
Each scene is rendered in beautiful detail and gives the set a truly graceful, old-world appeal.
You will find that each sterling lid features the same series of maker's marks.
The first of these reads "L&S". This is the mark of famed British silversmiths Levi & Salaman.
This mark is followed by an anchor (the traditional mark of the Birmingham Assay office) which is neighbored by the British National emblem of the "lion passant".
The final mark reads "e". This date mark indicates that the set was manufactured in 1904.
While the glass remains relatively scratch-free, the sterling tops show more wear.
Each piece shows some expected darkening while the two slender bottles exhibit some denting on the lids.
We have not polished the pieces but leave that to the preference of the buyer.
Despite some very minor condition issues, this graceful dresser set remains in good antique condition overall.
