This lovely antique pill box is German-made and features elegant, old-world details.
The pill box features traditional hallmarks on the underside which include the German national mark of the "crescent and crown" as well as the number "800".
This German hallmarking system was unified in 1888, and required silver items to include a mark indicating purity in the thousandths.
As you can see, both the sides and lid of this little box are beautifully adorned with repoussé decoration.
A beautiful floral motif winds sensually around the sides of the cylindrical box and features textural, hand-hammered accents.
The hinged lid is characterized by a sweet scene of two cherubs dancing gaily to the music of a pan flute.
While the exterior of the base bears the original silver-tone color, the lid is lightly vermeiled giving it a rich golden hue.
Even the interior of the pill box is finely gilt and still shows a high degree of shine.
You will notice some wear to the interior and exterior of the pill box, including some finish loss, minor oxidization and a few flea-bite scratches here and there.
Overall, this lovely little pill-box remains in good antique condition. It will make a fun gift or addition to your personal collection.
