Bold Bakelite and Brass Necklace Vintage Fashion Statement - image 1 of 8

This incredible vintage 1940s necklace features stunning Bakelite elements and has a bold, sensuous style that really stands the test of time.

This is definitely a classic, statement piece that will make the perfect finish to the perfect outfit.

We are in love with this piece. It has a bold, modern personality and wonderful colors.

Bakelite was developed in 1907–1909 by Belgian chemist Dr. Leo Baekeland, and in 1993, was designated an ACS National Historical Chemical Landmark in recognition of its significance as the world's first synthetic plastic.

Decorative items and jewelry made with Bakelite have since become incredibly collectible.

Each side of the necklace is comprised of large brass "cup" beads that overlap ever so slightly to create a snake-like effect.

These brass components graduate in size toward the center.

The center of the necklace is characterized by enormous Bakelite beads in dazzling, marbled shades of moss and Kelly-green with golden-yellow at the center.

Two more of the Bakelite beads accents the ends of the necklace which join with a simple but secure spring-ring clasp.

While the brass components show only a bit of light oxidization and some minor flea-bite scratches, the necklace remains in excellent vintage condition overall.

This daring piece is highly-collectible and will make a thrilling addition to your Bakelite collection.
