This is a beautiful antique brooch featuring a 14 karat yellow-gold-plated design and an arresting array of genuine seed pearls surrounding a fiery opal.
The tiny brooch features a surprising bold design characterized by two foliate scrolls on each side.
As you can see, the center of the pin boasts a dramatic synthetic opal which is surrounded twelve brilliant white seed pearls.
The synthetic opal contains fantastic colors and a high degree of sparkle and iridescence.
The stone is likely a replacement.
Synthetic opals like one are made using bits of genuine opal as well.
This stone contains a lot of bright flashes of red.
You will find some small repairs to the reverse of the brooch as well as a newer hinged pin.
Despite the repairs and some minor surface scratching, this beautiful little pin remains in good antique condition overall.
