This beautiful antique sword shaped pin is plated with 12 karat yellow gold and has really pretty detail and character.
As you can see, sword is rendered with a high level of realism and detail.
It's a beautiful, classic piece that is exemplary of turn-of-the-century design.
The sword features a "basket" hilt (the curved part that covers the base of the handle). The design dates from the early Middle Ages.
As you can see, the hilt features interesting pierced decoration while the handle and quillian (the component which is perpendicular to the sword below the hilt) are a bold, swirling design.
A rich patina gives the brooch nice depth and dimension.
A long roll-over safety brooch clasp on the reverse of the piece will make it easy to wear and display in your collection.
Though the brooch shows some very minor areas of verdigris near the handle and some light surface scratching, it remains in very good antique condition overall.
