Here is a beautiful vintage object from the past: a swagger stick.
Capped on both ends with brilliant 14 karat yellow gold and rendered with dramatic ebony wood, the swagger stick is a really lovely example.
The so-called "swagger stick" was typically carried by a person of authority.
However, what eventually became a more elegant personal adornment had origins in physical punishment.
The sticks were often carried by military personnel to direct drills and maneuvers until they lost their original functional use and gained more popularity as commemorative gifts, like this piece.
As you can see, the shaft of the stick is gorgeous dark ebony wood.
Both the cap and ferrule are rendered in dazzling 14 karat gold and have been professionally tested to ensure the purity.
Both gold pieces are smooth and relatively simple. There is a single hand-engraved inscription on the cap that reads "Sweetheart".
We find the juxtaposition of the charming sentiment with the militaristic leanings of the swagger stick delightful.
The gold cap and ferrule exhibit some minor wear and a few shallow dents. Otherwise, the swagger stick remains in good vintage condition.
