We are pleased to present this incredibly beautiful and unique antique walking stick.
This cane has a lot of character and substance. The shaft is made of a single piece of genuine bamboo that has lightly oxidized to a rich, dark finish.
As you can see, the handle is truly unique. The silver-plated, hand-cast handle is meant to resemble a freshly-cut bamboo-shoot.
It has a marvelous texture that enlivens the senses. Just holding it in your hand is a sensuous tactile experience.
We believe that the handle was cast using actual bamboo so as to perfectly recreate the look of newly-cut shoot.
The "nodes" (the bumpy sections around the bamboo) give the shaft lovely texture.
A long, substantial ferrule is securely attached to the base.
It is made of patinated brass and features a band of hand-chased herringbone embellishment near the top.
The shaft shows some wear and scratching as well as a two cracks near the base, though they do not appear to be jeopardizing the cane's structural integrity.
The silver-plated handle is well oxidized, though this beautiful cane remains in good antique condition.
