Here is an exceptional vintage cane featuring an incredibly hand-carved Giant Schnauzer or hunting Spaniel at the top.
Fun, stylish, and just a bit unusual, this cane is a rare and highly-collectible find. We date this to early 1900s.
When we say the carving is incredible, we mean it! The eyes are glass.
As you can see, the little doggy at the top is rendered in amazing detail.
With a classic face and fur, he sticks his tongue out playfully, while a strand of fur falls adorably over his forehead.
The artisan went into so much detail as to include a highly-realistic collar and bell.
The deeper areas of the carving exhibit some expected oxidization, while the taller areas remain a rich shade of amber brown.
This gives the carving extraordinary dimension and depth.
The genuine bone ferrule is still securely attached to the bottom of the walking stick.
You will see a bit of wear and a few small scuffs here and there, though this charming cane remains in very good vintage condition.
The back of the ears show a lighter color on the tips, however, these are NOT chips, just lighter areas from loving wear.
For the dog-lover or cane-collector, this beauty is a great find!
