Here is a really fun vintage shoe-shine stand made of beautifully oxidized cast-iron.
It has a neat slatted pattern with a star-shape at the center of the foot, giving it a kicky "cowboy" look.
Four arms protrude from the front and back of the stand, each with a hole at the bottom. This is where the shine-stand would have been attached to a box or platform.
The customer may have been standing or sitting but would have placed their boot squarely on the stand to receive a quick shoe-shine.
It wasn't until the early 1900's that shoe-polish caught on as a must-have for sharp looking footwear.
This beauty shows a really nice, rich patina throughout, with tinges of rust-colored sepia tones and darker spots of black.
Vintage cast-iron items like this shoe-shine stand lend a great sense of warmth and old-world charm to any décor.
We really like this piece; we know you will too!
