This is a darling 10-piece vintage porcelain miniature tea set in a beautiful white with gold gilding on the front and edges of the pieces.
It is a really pretty, feminine set.
The set is a beautiful example of "transferware", a technique perfected in the mid 18th-century.
Rather than hand-painting the delicate and minuscule decoration, tissue-paper decals are transferred to the porcelain and then fired in a low-temperature kiln.
Each decal begins life as a hand-engraved copper plate which is then used to print the image on extremely thin tissue paper.
"Transferware" items have become increasingly collectable in recent years, prized for their incredible complexity and durability.
This set is characterized by a simple, yet elegant design.
Each piece is rimmed with traditional genuine gold.
All pieces (except the two tiny tea saucers) feature a transferred design of brilliant gold roses with a dramatic, black contrast.
The tea set consists of 10 pieces total, including 1 creamer, 2 tea cups, 2 saucers, a sugar pot (with removable lid), 1 large teapot (with removable lid), 2 plates, and 1 large tray with small handles on each side.
Several of the pieces show a very minuscule amount of finish loss and slight flaking in the gold accenting.
Otherwise, this precious miniature tea set remains in excellent vintage condition.
