Exquisite 25 Piece Set of Limoges Fragonard Transferware Porcelain with Gold Gilding Miniatures - image 1 of 9

This is a gorgeous 25-piece set of vintage Limoges Fragonard Porcelain miniatures.

The name "Limoges" has been synonymous with high-quality, highly-collectible porcelain for over 200 years.

"Limoges" is used to refer to the hard-paste porcelain that is manufactured in or around the city of Limoges, France, but does not necessarily refer to a particular maker.

As you can see, every piece in the set is a pristine shade of white with real-gold accents.

Almost every piece features some kind of floral ornamentation, while some of the larger objects boast a wonderful figural scene by famous Rococo artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard.

During the mid 1700s, when King Louis XV's court was more licentious and pleasure-loving than ever,

Fragonard would gain renown by capturing the era's rampant hedonism with his numerous "Lovers" scenes.

Each colorful decoration was not hand-painted, but transferred onto the porcelain. The style, often called "transferware" was developed in the min-18th-century in England.

The pieces included in the set are as follows: 1 night light, 1 candlestick, 2 knives, 1 fork, 1 spoon, 2 rocking baby's cribs, 1 covered soup dish (with lid), 1 water pitcher, 2 telephones, 1 soup bowl with handle, 1 quatrefoil serving tray, 1 charger, 1 oblong serving tray, 1 dinner plate, 2 coffee grinders, 1 watering can, 1 goblet, 1 large coffee pot, 1 tea pot, 1 creamer and 1 teacup.

The "night light" (the tall item which fits the candle nicely inside) features an inscription in blue which reads "Bonne Nuit".

The larger bowl also features this inscription. Of course, "Bonne Nuit" is French for "Good Night".

16 pieces in the set are signed "Limoges France". Most of the unsigned pieces were simply too small for a hallmark.

The underside of the 4-pointed tray features marks reading "Limoges France" as well as a manufacturer's mark reading "Decora". Decora closed its doors in the 1950s.

Every piece in the set is in outstanding condition.

It is so difficult to find these miniature Limoges sets in any state of completion or in such great condition.
