This is a darling 7-piece set of vintage Limoges Fragonard Porcelain miniatures.
The name "Limoges" has been synonymous with high quality, highly collectible porcelain for over 200 years.
"Limoges" is used to refer to the hard-paste porcelain that is manufactured in or around the city of Limoges, France, but does not necessarily refer to a particular maker.
As you can see, each piece in the set is painted with dazzling fuchsia and accented with brilliant, reflective gold.
The set includes 4 plates with their own gold-tone stands, 1 pitcher, 1 small porcelain basket and 1 coffee pitcher with a gold-tone "spigot".
The miniatures are decorated with beautiful, highly-detailed transfers.
Every piece but the basket features a romantic figural scene by famous Rococo artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard.
During the mid 1700s, when King Louis XV's court was more licentious and pleasure-loving than ever, Fragonard would gain renown by capturing the era's rampant hedonism with his numerous "Lovers" scenes.
The style, often called "transferware" was developed in the min-18th-century in England.
Each scene on the porcelain miniatures features the artist's signature, "Fragonard", in tiny gold letters near the bottom.
The scenes are then surrounded by a painted frame of golden florals.
The set was manufactured by Decora Ceramics. Decora closed its doors in the 1950s.
The reverse of each tiny plate features a mark that reads "Limoges France" in dark green with "Decora Limoges France" printed in gold overtop.
The underside of the coffee urn, pitcher and basket feature marks reading, simply, "Limoges, France".
The plates show a tiny amount of wear, though the set remains in excellent vintage condition.
It is so difficult to find these miniature Limoges sets in any state of completion or in such great condition.
