Here is an extraordinary vintage Helbros Ladies' pocket watch featuring dazzling enamel and lustrous 14 karat yellow gold.
Helbros was founded by the Helbein brothers in 1913.
As middle class Swiss-German watchmakers, they sought to create fashionable and high quality timepieces that could be made affordable to the working public.
This elegant vintage pocket watch features dazzling guilloche enamel on the front and back in dramatic shades of black, red, and gold.
The mechanism works beautifully and keeps perfect time.
The porcelain dial is surrounded in a frame of lustrous black enamel with gold-tone swirling wreath design on the top and bottom.
One small area of the overlay has been lost on the top decoration though it is barely noticeable.
Each of the Arabic numbers has been hand painted in a lovely shade of cobalt-blue.
Each minute is marked with a tiny golden dot while the five-minute marks are marked with silver-tone diamond shapes.
The golden hands are in the classic and elegant serpentine style.
The reverse of the watch is decorated with an absolutely astounding guilloche-enamel design.
The bright red center seems to radiate from within and is framed by a brilliant reflective gold design.
Several four-pointed gold-tone stars accent the red center.
There are two stamped marks on the interior of the back that read "Sterling" and "Swiss Enamel".
As you can see, the exterior edge of the watch is rendered in 14 karat yellow gold and features two beaded edges which add a wonderfully elegant look and texture.
The stem, crown, and loop are also solid 14 karat gold. The piece has been professionally tested to ensure the purity of the gold.
The mechanism features a number of tiny, stamped maker's marks, the first of which reads "Helbros Watch Co."
Other marks read "Swiss", "61B", "Unadjusted", "Seventeen 17 Jewels", and "HXW". "HXW" was imprinted on mechanisms imported to the United States by Helbros.
This watch is accompanied by a dazzling vintage 12 karat gold-filled lariat-style chain.
Each little link of the snake-chain has a lovely, unique texture.
A gold-plated, etched ball holds both sides of the chain together and can be slid up and down depending on how long you intend to wear it.
A tiny watch-clasp at the end holds the loop perfectly.
The interior of the clasp exhibits a very small gold mark which reads "1/20 12K GF".
Despite a very minimal amount of wear, this extraordinary ladies' pocket and chain watch remain in outstanding vintage condition.
