This sensational vintage Boucher fur clip is rendered in sterling silver and finished with a lustrous gold vermeil.
The fur clip is signed with the designer's Phrygian cap hallmark, which dates from 1944 to 1949.
This clip has the most captivating design and color scheme.
Turquoise-blue cabochons and dazzling rhinestones give it that extra sparkle that makes it distinctly Boucher!
After a successful stint as designer for the Mazer Brothers, Marcel Boucher would go on to found his own jewelry company in 1937. (pronounced boo-shay)
Boucher pieces are typically very "high-end" and characterized by a unique yet elegant aesthetic. They are difficult to find and this fur clip is exceptionally unique.
A large fluted fan spreads out at the bottom of the fur clip.
The upper edge of the fan is embellished with pave-set clear rhinestones. A gold-tone fan protrudes above the fan and also features the sparkling clear rhinestones.
The top of the piece is set with six stunning navette-style cabochons in an arresting shade of turquoise-blue. Each of these alternates with garnet-red, diamond-shaped rhinestone.
The combination of colors is truly enchanting.
There are several marks on the reverse of the fur clip. This includes the "MB" mark under the Phrygian cap.
The mark is slightly faded but can still be made out.
Another mark reads "Sterling" and neighbors the style number, "2342".
There are a few minor surface scratches on the reverse of the fur clip. The piece shows some slight age, but remains in excellent vintage condition overall.
