This is a really special vintage sterling pill box from renowned master silversmith Fred Davis. It is fully hallmarked and ornamented with a single, spectacular amethyst cabochon on the lid.
Shortly after moving to Mexico from the United States in 1910, Fred Davis gained an interest in the jewelry worn by the native women.
He began to use this aesthetic as inspiration for his unique, original designs. His works are incredibly collectible for their age, quality, and beauty.
This is a relatively simple little box, measuring only a little over an inch long, but this elegant simplicity adds enormously to its appeal.
There is a hinge at the side of the lid which. A tiny indention on the upper right hand corner of the box makes a nice little finger hold which allows you to easily open the box.
You can see the Fred Davis "FD" hallmark on the underside of the box as well as "925". The piece has been professionally tested to ensure the purity of the silver.
The pill box shows some areas of oxidization. We don't like to polish pieces like one but prefer to leave that to the buy, but we know that this beauty will sparkle beautifully.
Overall, the piece remains in outstanding vintage condition. It will make a sweet addition to any ever growing silver collection.
