This beautiful West German vintage brooch is a beautiful example of the styles that pervaded European jewelry in the early 20th century.
The brooch is characterized by a delightful combination of a bold, reflective black cabochon surrounded by silver-tone "leaves" of delicate filigree.
The jet-black cabochon is held securely in a floral-tooth bezel while four "leaves" with graceful, minuscule filigree cascade over the top and around the sides.
You will find an imprinted mark on the reverse of the brooch which reads "Western Germany".
This mark indicates that the piece was manufactured in the Federal Republic of Germany (contrary to Communist East Germany) before the end of World War II.
A simple roll-over brooch clasp on the reverse of the piece will make it easy to wear and display.
The brooch exhibits very little wear with the exception of a few immaterial flea-bite scratches.
Overall, this beautiful piece remains in outstanding vintage condition.
