For avid readers and sterling collectors alike, we are pleased to present this beautiful silver bookmark. It dates from circa 1911-1920 and remains in great vintage condition.
The George K. Webster Silver Company was founded in Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1869 and produced beautiful keepsake silver items like dresser sets, picture frames, baby items, napkin rings, candlesticks and more.
The 1913, Webster catalog lists these pieces as combination bookmarks and letter openers.
The top of the bookmark features beautifully cast foliate scroll ornamentation. The upper edge boasts pierced decoration, giving it a lovely, dimensional appeal.
Both sides of the topper feature the Webster hallmark (a "W" and "Co" being pierced by an arrow") as well as the word "Sterling". One side exhibits a hand-etched personal monogram with the letter "B".
As you can see, the top of the bookmark shows a slight patina appropriate for its age. The bookmark remains in fantastic condition overall.
We do not polish our antique or vintage sterling items. We leave that to the owner for their individual preference.
