This incredibly beautiful vintage dish is a rare and highly collectible piece from the renowned Arts and Crafts Era company, Craftsman Studios.
Craftsman Studios Company of Laguna Beach was founded during the height of the Arts and Crafts Movement, but would undergo a series of name changes over the years.
By 1929, they had become Craftsman Inc.
This hallmark pre-dates the Craftsman, Inc. era.
Copper collectors tout that the early pieces' quality is much higher than their later designs and production.
The bowl is a great size. It's made from beautifully patinated copper and features a simple but elegant design. The rim has been lightly hammered to feature a slightly scalloped look.
As you can see, the underside of the bowl is fully hallmarked. The mark reads "Craftsman Studios" over the traditional "anvil and hammer" which contains the words "Hand Made".
Underneath it reads "At Laguna Beach Calif." The design number, "890", is the last mark.
The patina features a good deal of spots and mottling that gives it a wonderfully textural appeal.
The edges of the bowl are not entirely smooth, but rather, slightly textured.
It remains in excellent vintage condition overall.
This bowl is truly an exceptional example of the peerless style that characterized the Arts and Crafts Movement as well as Craftsman Studios Company designs.
