Like something straight out of Dr. Seuss, this fantastical whimsical wonderful car horn is as cool as they come.
This would look perfect in a den or on a mantle, as the perfect conversational starter.
From the days Studebakers, Packards and the Ford Model T, this horn is the classic curled "bugle" style and features a great big leather bulb.
The horn is made of nicely oxidized brass and curves to make a full circle. There is a sturdy brass component on one side where it would have been mounted to the exterior of a car.
As you can see, there is a large stamped hallmark near the bell end that reads "AEW".
We really like the bulb because it has a great striped decoration. Over the years, the leather has become so dry that it is no longer "squeezable".
There is also a permanent dent on the underside. Finally, there is a lightly embossed mark on the end of the bulb that reads "14" within a circle.
There are solder marks around most the joints as well as some small areas of white residue where a previous owner tried to polish the horn.
Despite these minor condition issues, the horn remains in expected antique condition.
It's such a warm color and fun and interesting shape that it would look great in literally any antique collection and a fabulous decor item.
