This a wonderful little Tiffany & Co. vinaigrette bottle rendered in beautiful sterling silver. The piece is an exemplar of the company's 174 year-old tradition of quality and flawless design.
The tiny little antique bottle has a gorgeous design with beautiful engine-turned embellishment on the front. There is a small rectangular space on the front that remains smooth, awaiting a personal monogram.
Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young founded the now world-renowned Tiffany & Co. in the heart of New York City. Despite the fact that America was in a deep economic recession, the company thrived, selling quality merchandise imported from India, Europe and the Orient.
In 1847, the company began retailing the silver products that would eventually become their signature.
The bottle has a small threaded stopper with an attached dabber wand that screws securely in the mouth. On the reverse of the neck, you will find the correct stamped hallmarks which read "Tiffany & Co." and "Sterling".
Though it exhibits some darkening as well as some minor surface scratching, this darling little vinaigrette bottle is still in very good antique condition.
We do not polish our vintage and antique items and leave that to the owner for their personal preference.
This would make an elegant gift or an excellent addition to your personal collection.
