Mr. McConnell you never cease to amaze. This drop-dead gorgeous, one-of-a-kind vintage hat is truly an artistic achievement in chartreuse and tons of bling bling rhinestones.
In the era, society women (as well as the Hollywood elite) wanted very unique hats and Jack McConnell established himself as a top milliner in New York City who created one-of-a-kind originals. These original creations were marked with a red feather tucked under the McConnell label.
He was aptly named the "King of Millinery".
The straw body and sweeping brim are made all the more dazzling by an array of hundreds of AB and pear-green rhinestones.
The rhinestones make up angular shapes that sweep over the crown and brim and line the edge of the cap.
We love the way the brim extends from the break then sweeps dramatically upward. It is slightly taller in the front than in the back.
The hat remains unlined to allow for cool comfort during wear. As you can see, a small ribbon of beige grosgrain lines the interior rim, followed by another of gold lamé which is covered with a slightly wider strip of white lace.
This is where you will find the original silk tag which reads "Styled By Jack McConnell New York".
There is the requisite red feather tucked behind the tag that signifies this is a one-of-a-kind hat.
Custom-made Jack McConnell hats like this one are difficult to find and, therefore, extremely collectible. Many of his early pieces are in museums across the country.
This beauty is in fantastic condition with just a bit of expected wear and only a few rhinestones that are slightly askew.
We know you'll love the vibrant, sensational color and style that this hat will add to your collection.
