From the late 1940s to the 1970s, "ART" (Art Mode Jewelry Creations, inc.) produced a broad range of high quality costume jewelry.

They were known mainly for their work with colorful rhinestones and frilly filigree, but this fabulous vintage brooch is more unusual than their traditional designs.

The brooch consists of two layers: the bottom is a sensational swirling medallion consisting of a thrilling open frame work in a rich, dark brass color.

The top piece, a sumptuous wing like shape, lies over the lower medallion; its lighter brass color and dramatic shape creates a sensual visual experience.

As you can see, the reverse of the brooch includes the company's hallmark which says, simply, "©Art". This hallmark was used after 1955. A roll-over safety clasp make the brooch really easy to wear and display.

In great vintage condition, this unique beauty is the perfect collector's piece.
