This is a beautiful and unusual little vintage plate.
Created using a cloisonné technique, the scene and decoration has been achieved by inlaying thin strips of bronze and filling the reservoirs with ceramic.
The piece was then glazed and fired, rendering this extraordinary little dish.
As you can see, the farthest edge is richly patinated bronze.
As you can see, the piece boasts a beautiful little bird at the center, sitting on a tall brown branch with slender green leaves.
There is a border of stylized flowers on the front while a similar shapes forms a repeating pattern on the obverse side.
It's the color that really catches the eye.
The front scene is surrounded by a background of the most vibrant cerulean blue while the bird is finished in shades of lime green, light turquoise and rich sapphire-blue.
There is some crazing in various areas, though we think it enhances the overall aesthetic of the piece.
Despite some very minor chipping and slight wear, it remains in good condition.
Truly a marvel of delicate craftsmanship, this piece would look extraordinary on display.
