ca 1945 Georg Jensen Sterling "Acorn" Spoon Shovel, Sterling Silver Heavy and Beautiful - image 1 of 7

This is a beautiful little tea caddy shovel from a seminal Jensen cutlery pattern: Acorn.

Caddy spoon is a type of spoon for use in taking dry tea from a tea caddy. It is small enough to fit inside the tea caddy. The shovel style was popular as well as jockey, leaves, scallops.

Characterized by flowering, but demure, organic shapes with a whimsical acorn nut at the top, the pattern represents some of the silversmith's earliest foundations.

A hallmark is stamped cleanly and clearly into the reverse of the piece at the top of the shovel head. It depicts the name "Georg Jensen" encircled by a series of small, incused dots. The use of this hallmark dates to 1945. The words "Sterling" and "Denmark" are stamped beneath the main mark.

The most collectible and beautiful silver available today is arguably that of master silversmith and designer, Georg Jensen.

After failing at a career in ceramics as a young man, Jensen started his first small silversmithy in 1904, in Copenhagen, Denmark. It would not be long after that his extraordinary Art Nouveau creations would attract the interest of discerning collector's the world over.

Though it exhibits some light surface wear, the tea caddy shovel is in very good vintage condition and continues to delight the senses with its graceful aesthetic and substance.

We think this is such a cute piece with a lot of weight and personality for its size.

It will make the most darling addition to any silver junkie's collection.
