This is an extraordinary antique ring rendered in dazzling 18 karat yellow gold.
Simple and elegant, its demure shape plays up the beauty of three magnificent sapphires and two brilliant diamonds.
The stones are in-set on the top, while the upper shanks are slightly fluted, giving the ring an almost stylized Grecian look.
The stones are open-backed set so the light that shines through adds additional sparkle to the gems.
There are several hallmarks stamped on the interior, the first of which is the maker's mark reading "JH". This is followed by the British crown and the number "18", indicating the gold's purity.
Next is the mark of the Chester Assay Office: three sheaves of wheat surrounding a sword. This abuts the date mark, a capital "L" in elegant script; this is the Chester mark for 1911. Finally, there is a numerical stamp reading 1751.
With only some insignificant flea-bite scratches, this ring remains in fabulous antique condition.
