This incredible vintage E. A. Bliss evening bag features luxurious mesh combined with exquisite style and design.
This lovely antique purse is marked with the company's "honeybee" hallmark: one of the most sought after by discerning collectors.
The delicate soldered mesh cascades through the fingers like water, providing a truly sensual tactile experience.
As you can see, the mesh is in astounding condition. It is attached with fine wire to the gold-tone brass frame at the top.
The frame is embellished with beautiful engine turned texture giving it a unique look with great dimension.
A simple ball clasp keeps the bag securely closed while a small length of chain attached to each side makes it perfectly simple to carry and display.
Each ball in the two-ball clasp features a gorgeous inset cabochon at the top made of ice-blue glass.
Inside, you will find several marks on the interior of the frame. Stamped marks on one side read "Soldered Mesh"; this is where you will find the "honeybee" hallmark.
This maker's mark with the circle E A Co (the little "o" is inside the "C") with the little honey bee was used from the late 1890s until approximately 1917.
The mark is quite worn, obscuring much of the "bee", though the lettering is still clearly visible.
On the opposite side of the frame's interior you can see a hand-engraved inscription which reads "Carrie Carlson".
Both sides of the frame feature a small, stamped "23" (likely the style number).
Some minor wear can be seen on the handbag, as well as some expected oxidization.
However, it remains in very good antique condition overall.
This piece is a truly dazzling example of E. A. Bliss style and will be a treasure in your collection.
