Elsa Schiaparelli founded her design brand in the 1920s: it set a lasting standard in the world of fashion.
After giving the fashion world innovations like the wedge heel and "Shocking Pink", Schiaparelli's legacy lives on today in rare and exquisite items like this extraordinary vintage hat.
This exact hat just returned to us from being on loan to Vanity Fair for their Spring 2012 fashion shoot in Paris.
We can barely keep from touching this fantastic hat; it's made of the most luxurious "Shocking Pink" beaver fur. It plays on the fingers with the most sensual softness.
The hat itself takes a wonderfully unique shape with a high volume, high drama design.
The front is fabulously high and tapers slightly downward toward the back.
There are fascinating shapes adorning the reverse of the hat which have been embroidered with straight stitched lines.
These decorative lines echo the shape perfectly.
As you can see, the hat is unlined except for a wide strip of bright pink grosgrain lining the interior band. The underside of the crown exhibits a manufacturer's mark reading "Helios, Body Made in Italy".
The original silken hallmark tag is affixed to the grosgrain ribbon and reads "Schiaparelli Paris" in bold pink script. It shows a little yellowing, but it is barely noticeable.
Best of all, this hat comes in the original Schiaparelli hat box! Though it shows some wear and fading, it remains in good condition which is very unusual.
Overall, this unconventional beauty remains in spectacular vintage condition.
For those collectors seeking high-quality, authentic items, this elegant Schiaparelli hat is a must-have!
