This fabulous vintage box purse has great details and really unique style.
As you can see, the lid and tall handle are made of dramatic black Lucite while the base is characterized by a gorgeous combination of silver and gold-tone woven metal strips.
The metal strips criss-cross picnic basket style.
The silver-tone strips are slightly wider and have a textural, brushed finish while the goldtone pieces consist of two pieces of twisted metal which have been flattened.
You will notice that the edges and corners feature smooth goldtone metals that create a very nice finishing touch.
The handbag opens easily and closes securely with a simple goldtone rocker clasp. Matching goldtone hardware holds the tall Lucite handle to the top of the lid.
Inside, you will see that the purse is lined with Goldenrod-yellow satin and features an embossed maker's mark which reads "Majestic".
Majestic Metal Specialties was on 5th Avenue in New York during the 1950s. They specialized in metal woven bags mixed with Lucite.
The lining shows several small stains and dark spots.
While this little beauty shows some expected wear including some surface scratches and dark spots, this extraordinary handbag remains in good vintage condition overall.
The contrast of the woven metals against the top and handle make a wonderful, unique look.
This is definitely a fun piece that will work for Spring or Fall!
