This extraordinary vintage Hattie Carnegie necklace absolutely screams glam.
Featuring interwoven elements of rigid, gold-tone rope chain, the piece culminates in a point, forming a stylized and super elegant bib shape.
The real eye catcher are the six rows on either side of stunning, emerald-green prong set rhinestones.
Craftsmanship was a staple of the Hattie Carnegie design, and this piece is an excellent example of that.
The mesh is in wonderful condition without dents or twisting. It has been treated with TLC.
Missing a single stone which can easily be replaced and does not detract one bit from the overall beauty of the piece, the necklace remains in very good vintage condition. It is hard to find the missing stone and it is not going to be noticed, if you choose not to replace it.
This piece was on loan from Easterbelle's brick and mortar store to a well known fashion stylist in the spring of 2011 to use in a photo shoot for a well known fashion magazine featuring contemporary designs accented with vintage accessories.
It is just that fabulous.
The reverse of the necklace has a simple hook and loop clasp, with an extra length of chain provided for a customizable fit.
Each end of the necklace has three rows of green rhinestones. Near the hook a clearly stamped Hattie Carnegie maker's mark is visible.
The rhinestones are brilliant.
Hattie Carnegie fashion accessories will only continue to increase in value and collectibility because when they ceased operations, her design era ended, too. We love the fact that she didn't "sell out".
This is a statement piece for a very special outfit or as a wonderful addition to your Carnegie collection or vintage jewelry wardrobe.
