Heintz sterling on bronze pieces are the epitome of the Arts & Crafts aesthetic in their medium, stylization, and construction.
Otto Heintz was born into a family of manufacturing jewelers established in 1875, in Buffalo , NY.
By about 1902, he had purchased a small company, renamed it the Art Crafts Shop, and began design and manufacture of copper items with colored enamel decoration. He was granted three patents.
By 1906, he changed the name to Heintz Art Metal Shop, and shifted to bronze as the base material and sterling silver as ornamentation.
This vase represents the Heintz style perfectly, and will make an excellent addition to your well rounded collection.
Heintz pieces are highly sought after by arts and crafts period collectors as well as bronze collectors.
A number of hallmarks are clearly stamped on the bottom of the vase; these include "3603A" (the patent number), the diamond shaped Heintz hallmark, "Sterling on Bronze", "Pat.Aug.27,12".
This vase has a wonderful, rich patina that will only enhance over time.
Never, ever, polish a piece of Heintz. There is enormous value in the patina.
