Here is a fabulously elegant hat.
It's made from perfectly blocked winter-white wool and boasts the most fabulous rigid shape.
The texture is soft and furry, with an almost angora like feel.
The "brim within a brim" style makes the hat wonderfully unique. The outer layer seems to gracefully hover about the head.
As you can see, the hat remains unlined which is traditional with extremely high quality wool.
The interior band, however, is lined with a wide strip of beige grosgrain ribbon.
The original retailer's tag is affixed to the ribbon and reads "O'Neil's" in fancy script.
O'Neil's was a regional department store founded in Akron, Ohio. By the 1910s, the store expanded to several locations throughout Ohio. The company traded hands a number of times until finally merging with Macy's in 1993.
Finally, a large "V"-shape rhinestone encrusted brooch and wool "dove tail" ribbon form a decorative arrow at the front of the hat.
On the reverse of the hat, you will find a sweet little velvet bow. The velvet is in slightly worn condition, but it's nothing too serious.
There is some extremely light discoloration on the interior (seen on the underside of the crown), but the hat remains in spectacular condition.
This beauty will add the perfect touch of 50s chic to your collection.
