Antique 1904 Heavily Hallmarked Sterling Silver Collared Glass Bottle - image 1 of 7

Here is an exquisite antique bottle made of delicate glass and topped with a collar of fine sterling silver.

The glass is elegant and feminine, with no visible seams. It features two graceful arms on each side. This would truly been the prized possession of a lady's dressing table.

As you can see, the neck of the bottle features a brilliant sterling collar; the piece has been stamped with a series of hallmarks.

The first of these is a maker's mark belonging to master silversmith John Charles Grinsell. The mark is slightly obscured due to faulty stamping, but the first letters are easily made out.

This mark is followed by an anchor, a symbol of Birmingham's assay office. Next is the "lion passant", for items of English manufacture and a date mark, "e", for 1904.

Finally, the style number, "2520", is the last mark.

The original stopper rests elegantly at the top of the bottle. It features a lovely triangular facet pattern.

There is a tiny bit of glue underneath the collar, though it is minimal and difficult to see with the naked eye. Overall, despite some slight wear commensurate with its age, this darling bottle remains in excellent antique condition.

3 ½" tall (4 ½" w/ stopper), 2 ¾" wide (arm to arm), 2 ¼" deep (front to back), Collar measures in diameter
