Here is an extraordinary vintage humidor from the Silver Crest Art Metal Company.
Silver Crest was the trademark used by the Smith Metal Arts Company of Buffalo; expert craftsman from the Heintz Art Metal Shop formed the new company in 1919, utilizing much of what they had learned, manufacturing incredible bronze items like this humidor.
The piece features an incredible, rich patina, perfectly complementing the decorative sterling silver overlay. A glass lining is included on the interior of the vessel to ensure a proper temperature for the storage of cigars.
The bottom boasts the original felt lining though some has been removed from the center so that the original hallmark can be seen. The hallmark features the traditional "Silver Crest Sterling Decorated Bronze" with a minuscule Smith Metal Arts Company logo in the center. A patent number can also clearly be seen underneath this; it reads "C404".
The humidor remains in excellent vintage condition, making it the ideal decorative element in your collection.
Arts and Crafts silver on bronze humidors are highly collectible. We love the shape of this one and also the beautiful patina.
