This sweet, satin vintage hat is so elegant and so fantastically timeless that it could only be an I. Magnin.
I. Magnin was founded in 1876 and became one the top luxury goods store in America.
Their heydays were in the late 1930s to the 1940s.
This little beauty dates from the 1940s and features fantastic character and style.
As you can see, the cap is characterized by tightly pleated cream-colored satin. The pleats on each side meet at the center under a narrow strip of matching satin piping.
A dainty satin bow at the back of the hat is a sweet touch of feminine charm.
Inside, the hat is lined with a light layer of thin net.
The inner-band is lined with a matching ribbon of cream-colored grosgrain.
Two plastic faux tortoise-shell combs are attached to each side of the ribbon inside and will help keep the cap perfectly in place no matter how you choose to wear.
And believe us, this is a completely wearable piece.
The original fabric designer's tag is attached to the grosgrain ribbon and reads simply "I. Magnin & Co.".
Though the hat has lost a bit of its original shape it remains in very good vintage condition overall.
This beauty is timeless I. Magnin; a must-have for the avid collector.
